Isabel’s Bio
I knew from a young age that I wanted to spend my life taking care of others. I was given early acceptance to the USC School of Medicine and will continue my studies there within the next couple of years. I want to become a doctor who uses her compassion and education to provide the best quality care for her patients.
For the past five years I have had work and volunteer experiences in pediatric medicine and caregiver roles. At the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, one of my duties as a food allergy research intern was monitoring for anaphylactic reactions in children with food allergies. Working for Make-A-Wish Illinois, I was the first contact reaching out to parents, guiding them through the first steps of the Wish granting process. I was the youngest person ever hired by the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA). I assisted participants with mental and physical disabilities ages 6-75, both as a camp counselor and as an after school volunteer. While coordinating activities, I fed, changed, and offered bathroom assistance for individuals with very limited mobility and/or mental disabilities. I oversaw a camper’s epilepsy treatment plan using Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) Therapy and administered medicine via enteral feeding tube. And as a Palmetto Health Hospice volunteer, I visited patients and their families to provide companionship and comfort in the hospital setting.
I have First Aid/CPR certification. I’m proficient in American Sign Language (ASL). I would be honored to become a part of your loved one’s life and to provide them with a fun home experience and quality care.
