I have worked in Assisted Living Care for over 12 yrs. I have worked as an in home care sitter for 1year as an independent contractor. I love working with the elderly and as a care giver I have experienced working with those that have dementia and those that need companionship. I have assisted in meal preparations and light housekeeping duties and organizing. I have received certification in the past for CPR and First Aid. I also received CNA certification in the past. I am not actively using my CNA license because it has not been a requirement with current job position. I will need to reinstate my license but am listed on the South Carolina Nurses Aide Registry online if you need any further info. I also am a certified Med Tech which I have distributed medication in a facility with 45 or more residents that I was responsible for giving medication in a timely manner as prescribed by physician. I have been responsible for checking vitals including blood sugar levels and giving insulin as needed.I have kept and organized medication charts and logs of residents information. I believe a caregiver should always consider how they would want to be treated if they were the patient being taken care of.
