When I was just a baby, my mother divorced my father and moved us in with her mother. My Mamaw grew to raise me until her health kept her from doing so. Even then, I wouldn't turn my back on her and move away like everyone tried to convince me to. She had cancer and had experienced a bad fall, causing her to break her hip. Her disease had weakened her to where she couldn't leave her recliner. I was 8 years old. She had a home health nurse who would come in to take care of her, and I wanted to be just like her. I wanted to make Mamaw better. When her nurse wasn't in the house, I would help her with things such as eating and using a bedpan. She lost her life in the hospital 5 days after my ninth birthday. I had 2 fast food jobs during my teen years, but I knew what I wanted to do. When I turned 18, I accepted a housekeeping job in a nursing facility, so I could be in the field that I love. Within a year I had my nurse aide certification from a community college in Pineville, KY. I then took a CNA position at another nursing facility, and I worked that job for 7 years. That's when I knew I had to do more. So, I went to nursing school. After a 12 month program at the local technical college,where I acted as class liaison, I took my state board test and became a licensed practical nurse. I continued to work at the same nursing facility, but I had more responsibility. With that came a huge workload. I was finally doing exactly what I'd always wanted to do with my life. I worked that position for 2 years until the facility couldn't reconcile our differences, and I knew I couldn't bear to work for them any longer. Nursing will always be what I love to do, and now I'm looking for someone who I can happily work with/for for many years to come. Aside from my Nurse Aide Certification and my Practical Nursing License, I am also CPR Certified. I also provide pet care. I have cared for my very own dog since he was five and a half weeks old, and now he's twelve and still full of energy and love. I also have a very large family, giving me plenty of experience with child care. So, whether you need a babysitter, pet care provider, housekeeper or health care provider; I'm the woman for you.
