I recently retired after teaching for 28 years. I have always had a passion to be of service to others. As a teacher, I had the opportunity to practice and build the important skills of patience, understanding, flexibility, reliability, and trust. I believe these skills will support and guide me as a caregiver. Before becoming a teacher, I had the opportunity to work in a number of long-term care centers and nursing homes. More recently, I worked as a night sitter for a patient in the Alzheimer's unit at CHI, and provided elder care for a cancer patient.
