I am a 53 years old female who has been in the healthcare field for approx. 30 years. After my husband died unexpectedly in 2012, I felt like I had no purpose in life then in 2014 I was blessed to become a caregiver / household manager for a gentleman with dementia and other medical conditions. This gentleman lived alone and I took care of all aspects of his care and care of his home and pets. His only family lived out of state.
My daughters and I more or less adopted him as a grandfather and a father; I brought him to my home for holidays because we loved him so much.
But due to Harvey he had to be evacuated from his home to my home and then his POA decided to move him to Louisiana to be closer to them.
I have experience performing all aspects of daily care, personal grooming, physical therapy, medication administration, meal prep, companionship, cleaning, and transporting to appointments and social events. My experience includes caring for loved ones with dementia, as well as those with CHF, CKD, and CAD.
Few things are more comforting to your loved one, than knowing that they can stay in their home during these vulnerable stages in life. It is vital to uphold the value and dignity of the gift of long life bestowed upon our seniors.
