I've been a licensed caregiver for the past seven years. However care-giving is something that I have embraced through helping family members in various ways that have fostered my passion in health care. I've had the experience in working in a variety of settings such as in-home care (six residents), in-home private duty, and a nursing home setting. My goal is the further my education as a caregiver.
During my in-home care experience I worked with several residents at a time. These sessions were spent preparing dinners, assisting with HS cares, bathing, laundry, passing medication, taking vitals, group activities, and companionship. I was also tasked with keeping a daily progress journal on each of the residents.
As an in-home caregiver (1-1) my duties consisted of assisting with ADLs, bed-bathing, transferring, meal preparation, housekeeping, daily range of motion, taking vitals, appointment scheduling, escorting to and from appointments as well as leisure outings. A daily journal was also used to track the residents progress.
While working in the nursing home I've also had the opportunity to work in a combined setting of a nursing home, independent living as well as assisted living residents. This required not only the daily task from my previous experiences but also the use of mechanical lifts. Transferring, re-positioning, daily range of motion and daily logs electronically were also a part of my assigned task.
