The first job I held, at age thirteen, was as a companion to an elderly woman with Dementia. I made sure she had clean, fresh food. I shopped for her groceries. I engaged her in as many activities such as playing piano and singing as she was comfortable with. I monitored her medications and reported problems to my employer. I performed light house cleaning to maintain a sanitary living condition. I did not accompany her to the restroom nor supervise her bathing. She was able to perform those activities on her own and did not require assistance.
