I currently am 25 years old and I have been a care companion now for 8 years. I first begin my journey as an care companion when my great great auntie could no longer take care of herself properly. She had already been diagnosed with dementia. And it was only getter worse. Eventually she passed. Not a good two years down the line my great aunt was diagnosed with early signs of dementia. Me and my family members take turns ensuring she is getting the best care possibly. I look at Elders with demishing capabilties as children in a sense. They need you to be there for them, to assist them with there needs at all times. When I care for elders, I take it as I am giving back because elders are the ones who paved the way for me and my family. The least I can do is ensure they are cared for properly in my care.
