Kennedee’s Bio
I have taken courses in CNA and in Occupational Therapy. I am not yet a certified CNA, however. I have had training in CPR and First Aid but do not currently have certifications. I will promptly obtain those for any position that requires them.
In addition to the courses I have taken, I also have experience (beyond the clinical hours required) taking care of a friend’s grandmother as she declined and needed all of the assistance that a CNA would provide to a patient. These things were done, not as a job, but simply as compassionate service. I also have a grandmother who lives in senior citizen housing and I have spent many hours there serving her and her neighbors in various, non-medical capacities, such as house cleaning, preparing food, laundry, etc. And I also have an aunt who is disabled, being mentally challenged and non-verbal. We spend a lot of time with her and I have had opportunity to have her in my care at times when my grandmother, who is her custodian, had to leave her, as she can’t be unattended for long periods of time. I have also volunteered with the Special Olympics and absolutely loved working with these great special athletes.
All of these experiences have helped me to understand the great love that I have for these two groups of people that very frequently need additional care. I have enjoyed these experiences so much that this is how I believe I would like to spend my career. I am not yet sure which avenue of healthcare I want my long-term education to take, as I am trying to expose myself to different aspects. But I know that I ultimately would love to work with the disabled or the elderly.
You will find that I am a compassionate caregiver. I am not an employee who will be there just to get a paycheck. I have an interest in the people that I serve and what their needs are. I have a desire to treat them with the respect that they deserve and to help them to feel valued and appreciated, while still accomplishing the tasks necessary to keep them safe and healthy, as much as within my power as a caregiver.
