I have a total of 13 years experience as a home care companion.
I took care of my mother (passed away at 86 yrs) for more than a decade. She was bed-ridden for the last two years with dementia. I cooked meals for her, bathed her, changed her, laundered her clothes and sheets, ran errands, and took care of her physical support needs.
Previously, I served as a companion care giver for an 80 year-old woman in Pueblo, Colorado. After her day-care nurse left, I took her from 4PM to 9PM. I shopped for her, purchased groceries, took her to her hair appointments, took her out to dinner, or cooked dinner, cleaned the kitchen, conversed, watched her favorite TV show with her, checked her medications, saw that she took the proper dosages, dressed her for bed, and made sure she was comfortable and in-bed before I did a security and safety check on the household, and locked the door and left for my home.
