My name is Melissa Dow. I am a 45 year old divorced (20yr) mother of one (22yr son). Due to budget cut at my last employer, I was laid off (June), where I worked as a Safety Director for a non-profit company. Since the layoff I have decided not to return to safety profession field and will be pursuing my BS in Christian Counseling. I have Bachelors degree in Safety Engineering and well as other professional leadership certificates. I am a Red Cross instructor and I am certified in First-Aid, CPR & AED for Adults and children In addition to working full-time, I worked for 4yrs at my church as the Youth Ministry Director. I continue to work with the Christians youth and hope to one day open a Christian Youth Center.

I provided late afternoon, evening adult care to my grand-mother for 4 years. I also provided medical and adult care to my mother who had stage 4 colon cancer. For 2 years i provided evening childcare for my cousins Preemie grandson who had medical issues. For 10 years I provided care to my Father (deceased now) who was diagnosed with renal kidney disease. Provide medical and pet care to Kaci, my 5 year old German Shepherd dog who was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma and mega-esophagus. Under the care and treatment of Virginia Tech Veterinarian Medical Center she was well on her way to being lymphoma free but unfortunately passed away from mega-esophagus.
