Katie’s Bio
I grew up the youngest of nine children. My mother has always needed help cleaning and cooking and since being in middle school, she has needed help getting around, getting water for medications, cleaning up and dressing. She is now in a power chair and depends on my family for most everything. I love helping my mother. I've seen her through several surgeries, in the hospital and out afterwards, and I believe being there with her through so much of it is what has made me want to join the health care field. I gave my mom her IVs when she picked up a staff infection after 2 surgeries and I loved learning how to do it and being able to help. She is on 14 medications that she takes at certain times and I always make sure she has a cup of ice water for them.
I took a CNA course in North Carolina in 2012 and just recently took the state test and passed. I'm currently looking for work as a CNA but being able to help people is what I love, whether it be parents, grandparents, or children.
I have two children, Austin and Allison, and because Alli started kindergarten this year, my husband and I decided it's a good time for me to look for a full time job. I'm very excited about working again.
