In 1997, I was certified as a CNA and worked in a nursing home in Wakarusa, Indiana. I have since been a caretaker for an Autistic child and three grandparents with various illnesses or disabilities. Recently, I worked in a local nursing home as an Activities Coordinator (over 3 years) going above and beyond the limitations of my job title by helping out in other departments such as with incontinent care, dressing, transferring, and transportation. Obviously, I am very familiar in working with those with dementia as well as physical disabilities, and I will be more than happy to provide a resume and undergo a background check if desired. Also, since I was an Activities Coordinator, as well as my experience as a Substitute Teacher, I have the ability to talk to anyone, finding a commonality - whether that's through discussion or activity. I'm very good at listening or distraction - whichever may be necessary at the time.
