I have completed the 75-hour Basic Training Program for Home Care Attendants. I also worked for Catholic Community Services NW as a caregiver about 10 years ago while my job at the time was building towards full time. Six years ago I helped care for my father while he had terminal cancer. My wife also has severe fibromyalgia and thus I caregive for her to varying degrees based on how she is feeling. Through these experiences I have gained a sensitivity and awareness to not only the physical needs that people have, but t o the emotional impact that being limited can have on individuals and their loved ones.
While at Catholic Community Services NW I worked with a developmentally disabled young man, a bed-bound elderly man, and a deaf man who became terminally ill. I am in a transition phase in my life where I was no longer able to perform my job which involved a lot of repetitive motion. I am fully physically able to caregive. I look forward to helping someone with whatever their needs are.
