I'm a registered with the State of Washington as an NAR and I've completed the CNA course, Fundamentals of Care giving. I have Nurse Delegation certificates that qualify me to administer medicines and to care for individuals with diabetes. I have quite a bit of experience, both as a paid and unpaid caregiver. While I was in college, I was a part-time respite caregiver. Later, I was one of the people providing personal care to my dad after he had a stroke. I did this for about seven years. I was a clerical worker in a hospital for 10 years and have just recently made a career change to being a caregiver.

I have a particular interest in working with people who have dementia. It suits me because I have the ability to "go with the flow," allowing an individual to have their own perception of reality without trying to impose my own. I have an ongoing commitment to learn more about this disease and I have a deep interest in acquiring the interpersonal skills that will allow me to best care for people with dementia.

I love working with my clients and enjoy connecting with families around the care of their elders. It's rewarding to know that what I do enhances an individual's quality of life. With just a little extra assistance, many seniors can maintain their independence and continue to do the activities they enjoy.
