Originally from New York, my babysitting experience began on weekends in high school, for families in my neighborhood. I did not become a full time nanny until the summer before my junior year. I worked with a family who already had two children, a boy and a girl and were expecting their third child. That summer the children were toddlers, ages two and four. My responsibilities included playtime activities, meal preparation, bath time, swimming lessons in their pool and sometimes trips to the beach. Occasionally the children would have a play date and I would watch their friends as well. By the next summer, I was nannying for all three children, since the baby had been born. I worked for this family for three more years, until my second year of college. I attended the University of Rhode Island and would return home to NY to nanny for summers. After graduating college I decided I'd like to nanny again so I took a job full time nannying, this time in RI, for another family with three children. This family had two young girls, ages three and a half and almost two years old. They also had a new baby boy who was three months old. In addition to the children, the family had a large dog and a cat. My responsibilities with this family included participating in playtime activities, meal preparation, bath time, driving to and from day care, tennis lessons for the oldest, and swimming lessons for the girls at the local YMCA. I also did light housekeeping, always cleaned up after the children and putt away toys. Not only being able to take care of and entertain three young children, but also getting all three in car seats and into the car (sometimes even taking the dog) is a task I am proud to say I can handle. I have recently moved to Alabama and am once again hoping to nanny. I love working with kids of all ages. Every day is different when working with kids and I like that about my job.
