I am an experienced mother of 6 adult children. I was a teacher in Florida, before leaving the workplace to stay home to raise and educate my family. This decision allowed us a greater opportunity for creativity, development of individual gifts, and nurturing. All of my children are professional, upstanding citizens today. This is my greatest reference! I now have the freedom to use all of my experience for a new career venue. I am bilingual in Spanish and English (oral and written). I love music, ballet, sports and the arts ... oh, and horses! I adore babies and believe children today, more than ever, need love, and as much stability as possible in their lives. This is especially important in "broken" or "blended" families, and families where both parents have demanding careers. I believe kids need, really need, one, main, care-giver. That is why I want to work as Read more a nanny; in order to offer families one stable, dependable influence in their children's lives. I believe this job will, in the future, become more and more a respected, highly valued profession, with the parents deciding the person which is the best 'fit' for their family's needs. I would like to be that person for a special family. I bring a great deal of experience and love to this job. I hold a BA degree in Education from the University of Florida, specializing in Early Childhood and Elementary Ed. I taught for 5 years, before deciding to home school. Teaching was a calling for me, but my family's needs took me in a direction where I was able to use my education in a more creative and personalized direction. After graduating from college I worked, for a year, as a Children's Librarian, where I organized and presented Story Hour, put on puppet shows, visited area schools for "story telling", and organized a reading incentive campaign based on the favorite books of child celebrities. I also critiqued books for library purchase. I love books!! And reading!!! I believe technology is AMAZING and potentially WONDERFUL, BUT, I do think that kids need limits, direction, and boundaries in this as in all other areas of their lives. I am neat and clean, and dress professionally (modestly). I have had a background check, finger prints and taken and received certification in the Child Protection course mandatory for working with children in Catholic schools.
