My name is Emily Myers and I am currently finishing up my last year of college at University of Arkansas. I will graduate in May with a degree in Early Childhood Education and an endorsement in teaching English as a second language. I have lots of experience working with children. I have babysat since I was about 16 years old including for my church nursery and for families. Through the nurseries and babysitting I have worked with children ranging from infants to elementary age. I have worked as a counselor at two summer camps called New Life Ranch and Camp Barnabas. New Life Ranch is a Christian camp. There I was a counselor for a whole summer for 6 days a week, 23 hours a day. I worked with children from about 5th grade-10th grade and led Bible study discussions, activities, and a canoeing class. Camp Barnabas is a camp Read more for children who are mentally and physically handicapped. I worked as a counselor there for a week helping children of all different ranges. I have volunteered at many different events working with children. I am currently involved in a ministry that meets once a week for 3-4 hours. The ministry is called potters house and there I mentor girls that are kindergarten-3rd graders and help build their self-esteem. I provide them with snacks, play games with them and teach them about the Bible and how to develop a personal relationship with God. I am also currently finishing my yearlong internship at an elementary school where I am working with kindergarten, 1st grade, and third grade. During my internship I get to observe in classrooms and teach lessons to the students. I love children and I enjoy seeing them learn and grow. I love being able to have a part and influence in that process.
