My child care career started in 2006, where I was responsible for taking care of a 4-year-old during the summer months. I would care for her daily, which consisted of cooking her breakfast and lunch, reading to her, playing games inside and outside, laying her down for a nap, swimming with her and occasionally planning a fun "girls day out" to the movies, restaurant, etc. (her choice, of course!). During the school months, I would care for another child. I was responsible for picking up a 12-year-old girl from school daily and taking her home where I provided her a snack, helped her complete her homework, and also helped her study for upcoming tests. I was also responsible for transporting her to and from softball practice and games. Once I was accepted into college in 2011, I began working at an actual preschool. I was in charge of 16, 4-year-olds Read more daily. It was my responsibility to make sure they ate breakfast and lunch, played outside at least twice a day for 30 minute increments, took an hour and a half nap, and had non-directed free play. I also reviewed with them counting 1-100, shapes, colors, the alphabet, naming past presidents, naming the planets and counting 1-20 in Spanish.
