I have spent much of my life babysitting children of a wide variety of ages. I am incredibly passionate about children, and am constantly making new little friends wherever I go. As a middle-school and high-school student, most of my babysitting was for families I knew personally, or parent-night-out events hosted at my church. I also spent time working in my church nursery and in Bible classes. As a freshman and sophomore in college, I babysat anywhere from 7-10 children at a time (all under the age of four) for a ladies Bible study every Friday morning. As a junior and senior, I spent my Friday mornings babysitting a preschool-aged boy at an elementary school. Immediately following my graduation from college, I also spent some time working in a daycare in my town. I graduated college with a speech pathology degree. In this degree, I studied normal child development, along Read more with many physical and learning disorders that children can be affected by. This degree gave me the skill set to encourage learning and growth for children of all ages, and of a broad range of special needs as well. I know some limited sign language, and am also CPR certified. Along with knowing how to encourage learning, I'm incredibly passionate about it! I want every child to be able to reach his or her developmental potential. Something major that I learned from my college degree was how to integrate learning into all aspects of a child's day--meals, playtime, and more. I hope to use these skills and passions I have in order to help children grow in ability and confidence. Even more important to me than encouraging learning and development, though, is that all children know how loved, unique, and special they are. Every child, exactly how they were created, is an incredible blessing, and should be shown that by everyone they encounter. Children are to be encouraged, cherished, and protected. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I have an abundance of love to share, whether it looks like cleaning snotty noses, bandaging boo-boos, books at bedtime or giant hugs. I don't mind getting messy, or worn out, or dressed up. I don't get mad when mistakes are made, but I'm also not afraid to punish a child if needed. If given the chance, I would love to share the love and grace that I've been given with your child or children.
