I recently graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Family and Human Development. When completing my education, certain classes that I had to take as part of the curriculum such as Intro to Parenting and Child Development had redirected my original interest of working with adults to children. My final semester at ASU I was accepted to be a part of a pilot program which involved a semester long special project of addressing the community youth's needs with a possible solution. The exposure to these areas fostered my desire to help people and sparked interest specifically in youth. To me, being a caretaker, Nanny or even babysitter means to provide the best possible care for a child or person. Providing structure and discipline but with a nurturing touch. It means to foster their needs both physically, mentally, creatively. In my final semester, the focus I chose to address was arts and learning in today's youth so I do know how important this is in the development of youth. I hope to work with a great family in order to supplement my future work with children in the social work and counseling field one day.
