I recently graduated from Tufts University in Boston, and am beginning medical school this July! My family recently moved to North Scottsdale from Florida. In the past, I have cared for a variety of families, ranging from kids of 9 months to kids of 13 years! I have a lot of experience working with kids, as I have been a babysitter since I was 12 years old and received my babysitter's license! I routinely babysat for a great family while at school in Boston. I am heavily involved with several volunteer organizations. Most recently I was in Cajamarca, Peru for 3 months with Amigos de las Americas, working as a Project Supervisor. My role as a supervisor involved being responsible for the health, safety and logistics of nine teenage volunteers living in small, rural Andean communities. I have also participated with AMIGOS as a volunteer twice. In 2010, I was Read more in Cotopaxi, Ecuador for 8 weeks. My role as a volunteer in Ecuador included living with a host family in Laguamasa, a rural community of 300 in the Andes Mountains. I worked in the local school teaching the importance of preserving the environment, water sanitation and dental hygiene. The children and I painted two murals in the school in order to promote the importance of the environment and maintaining healthy habits. We also planted 500 trees to improve the deforestation conditions and constructed a communal library. In Ecuador I fell in love with the children and felt such a special connection to them. During the summer of 2009, I was in Chontales, Nicaragua, for 7 weeks with the same organization. My role as a volunteer included living with a host family in La Santos, a rural community of 250 people. I worked in the local school teaching children’s rights, the importance of creative expression and youth empowerment. The children and I planted gardens, organized trash pick-ups and even constructed a playground. I really enjoy working with children of all ages and observing their positive growth over a period of time! During the summer of 2008, I worked at a summer camp as a camp counselor. My position as a camp counselor required me to organize summer activities and care for campers during the before and after hours of the camp.
