I'm looking for part time or occasional babysitting or tutoring work. I have tons of childcare experience and a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Mills College. I've worked as a babysitter, tutor and teaching assistant with kids from 6 months to 14 years. I love playing games, going to the park, helping with homework, and especially reading out loud. For the last three years I've taken care of a boy who is now four-years-old and has started preschool. As the oldest child in my family I've always been good at thinking up imaginative games: new versions of tag, projects with construction paper and lots of tape, or something different to do with the monopoly board. While in College, I tutored struggling 7th and 8th graders in English, Math, Social Studies and Science. The job took a lot of persistence--these kids were only there because the school required it, but it was worth it to see them succeed. I'll happily cook healthy meals and help the children keep their things tidy. I also know how to enforce the rules and I'm patient, responsible, reliable, and very safety-conscious. I'm never late and I'll never bail out at the last minute. I live in Berkeley and would prefer a job in this area although I'm willing to commute for the right position. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm available for an interview at your convenience and could start right away. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
