I am a Pomona College student majoring in Studio Art and Media Studies, and am planning on pursuing a Masters in Education after I complete my undergraduate degree. I will be in DC from early June- mid August for an internship which will go from 12pm-6pm Monday-Friday, and am seeking morning/occasional nighttime and weekend nannying hours to supplement my internship. My love for children started in high school with my experience in a tutoring program for Elementary school students who did not speak English as their first language. I quickly realized that working and playing with kids is truly a joyful and life-giving experience for me, and that I was good at it! In addition to tutoring, I babysat extensively throughout high school, and now am fortunate to be applying my love to children to my professional life and education. For the past 2 years, I have worked at a Read more HeadStart preschool as a Corps Member for Jumpstart, a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students to serve preschool children in low-income neighborhoods. Along with a team of five other college students, I teach a class of sixteen 3-5 year olds in Upland for six hours a week, working to promote early literacy and prepare children to enter kindergarten at the same level as their higher-income peers. I have completed over 50 hours of training in early education strategies, child development, and classroom management. I am CPR/AED certified, and have completed a basic background check through SitterCity, as well as a more extensive check through Jumpstart. I would be happy to complete any additional background checks as desired. I am also happy to do a Motor Vehicle Records check if necessary, and have a completely clean driving record. Working with children is my passion, and I hope to make it my life's work to provide children with quality care and adult-child relationships. I would love to get to know you and your kiddos this coming summer!
