For the past 5 years I have been working for the Corona Norco Unified School District. My first 4 years there I worked for an after school program (ASES) where I had my own class of fifth graders! I would tutor, help with homework, projects or essays, give simple math and reading lessons, set up field days, play educational games, run a P.E. class, help my facilitator in anything she might need. In ASES we promote a safe and fun environment for our students and we reinforce what is learned in class. I absolutely loved this job! Not only was I able to have my own class but my facilitator also trusted me with running other aspects of the program. For example, lunch, snacks, preparing activities, field days, etc. I was a part of my students lives and I felt I was making an impact. Unfortunately, I had to resign Read more because of my school schedule but I did not leave the district. I began working at the Rocket Program. The Rocket Program is a preschool special education program where we teach the little ones basic everyday, language and communication skills. I am currently attending Cal State Fullerton and majoring in Intercultural Communications and Special Education. A year ago after beginning the Rocket Program I switched my major from Communicative Disorders because I didn't like that aspect of working with children, it wasn't my cup of tea! What Comm Disorders has left me with is plenty of knowledge in early childhood development which I feel has made me an asset in my class. I am able to put the knowledge I learned in those classes with my children that I am now working with. I would not consider myself only a "baby sitter" I am a hard worker and able to do anything and everything. Since I have been working for the district I have been able to attend different trainings. I have completed the Tier 1 Para educator training and cpi training: behavior management (non violent crisis intervention). Also I have had 3 years of leadership courses where we have studied John Wooden's Pyramid of Success. I am young, active and ready to learn. More about myself: I am bilingual (Spanish), love to be active and be healthy. I have a passion for cooking and eat as natural as I can. Fresh is best! I love to travel and would love to move to Mexico by the beaches in the near future!
