I have always loved children. I babysat for people in my neighboorhood when I was a teenager. When I had two boys of my own I decided I needed to know about early childhood development, so I took classes and eventually found work at preschools. I beleive strongly in developmentally appropriate practices with children and have devolped many hands on activities for children so they can learn through play. I'd say nature and cooking are my favorites. Besides being a teacher, I have served as a volunteer with Sunol Regional Park, Carquin Parent Participation Elementary School, Pleasanton Playhouse, Ashland Little League.Hayward Soccer League, San Leandro Crusaders Football, San Francisco Boys Choir, Oakland Youth Chorus, and Bohannon School. I was a very involved mother and have raised two boys who are now wonderful parents.

We were in a tight spot and needed to quickly find safe and reliable care for our 23-month-old son. Laurie hit it off with our son immediately (during her interview!) and things kept on the right track from there. She is very organized, punctual and clean. And by organized I mean that Laurie brought her own supplies (books, playdough, etc.) to share with and engage with our son. For the time that Laurie was with our son, it always seemed like she was calling on her vast experience and true interest in children to help him explore and learn about his world. We are so thankful that we were able to find Laurie and will certainly be keeping her phone number handy for the next time we are in a pinch - I would also recommend that other parents do the same!

Laurie is an amazing sitter. I don't have the words to express how valuable her services were to me. I don't know what I would have done without her while my husband was deployed, she was more helpful than all of my well-intentioned family. Our son absolutly loved her. I have never trusted anyone to care for my son like I have Laurie, I had more doubts about my own mother than I did Laurie and they are both calm and wonderful women. There was a gap in Laurie's service to me while my husband was deployed and the second time around I gave Laurie as much as I could afford in a raise because there was no one else like her on this site. I only wish I was able to pay her more because she is well worth it. My son was 2 when we first met Laurie and wasn't speaking yet but while under her care he began to read a few words from the books she brought him from the library. My son is now 3 and can read "Are You My Mother" and some other books on his own with very little help. I hope to see her again when I return to my old home town so that my Husband may meet the wonderful woman who cared for our son as if he was her own grandchild.
