Hello! My name is Katie Hemming and I would love to be considered for upcoming Nanny positions. I have been working with children in various capacities including nanny, camp counselor, tutor, mentor, and substitute teacher for the last nine years. I have a bachelor's degree in Non-Profit Management specializing in education and a minor in Music. I love kids especially being a part of their early education and development. I'm also an excellent cook, I'm incredibly organized, and I am very handy around the house. I like taking care of children because of the ability to be a positive influence on the world and to watch them grow. I believe I am good at it because of my patience and enthusiasm. Education and experiential learning has always been a passion of mine. As a camp counselor, I always tried to create and implement activities that were challenging, and expanded what Read more the campers thought they could do. One game that I did first as a camp counselor and then later utilized as a substitute teacher was Human Bowling. I would have the participants be the pins and one person be the ball and we would try to (safely) knock over all the pins. Everything about this game was dependent on age and grade level; with lower level elementary students, we might do the addition and subtraction of the “pins” whereas with middle schoolers we’d discuss geometric angles and the physical force necessary to get a strike. I also bring extensive knowledge of music. I have taught voice lessons and love to use my keyboard as a way to teach kids about the power of music and sound. Creativity is so important to the positive development of a child and I think music or even making a flying car out of a big cardboard box are ways we can brings children's imaginations to life. Thank you for your consideration, Katie Hemming
