Hey there! My name is Leela. I'm 24, and I was raised in Oregon, where I went to the Eugene Waldorf School (K-8), and later graduated from the Portland Waldorf High School. I studied theater in college, and after taking a break, I am going to Esthetician school in January. My Waldorf education has really shaped the way I view childhood development, by incorporating art into every aspect of the education. It has opened my eyes to the importance of creative outlets for children, and I bring those values into my work with kids. I love looking after children, and seeing firsthand the boundless creative energy they possess! I am very interactive, and I love watching their imaginative universes come to life through games and crafts. With some careful guidance, good encouragement, and appropriate boundaries, any space can transform into a child's wonderland! With that said, I'm very responsible, and Read more disciplined in my work. I believe that every experience has educational value, and my goal is to access my highest potential, and that of those around me. I'm CPR/AED certified, and I have experience working in many professional environments. I take directions easily, and I'm quick on my feet! I'm a great listener, and I resolve problems efficiently by providing simple and fair solutions. Several years ago, I was taking care of three kids, all of whom wanted to do something different. Since no one wanted to do what the others wanted, we decided to brainstorm, and found something else we could do together. Since we had all come up with the idea, no one felt left out. At any age, we just want to feel like we're being heard, and our needs are being met. We may not get everything we want right away, but if we are being treated fairly, and we're given exciting alternatives, we can overcome our displeasure easily. I always aim to provide wholesome, fun, and safe experiences for all the children I care for, and I can integrate any household values easily into my own work! Working with children helps me to let go of the small stuff, and open my eyes the excitement of life. Seeing the world from a fresh perspective is delightful! Children possess so much innate intelligence and creativity, and I love being able to witness and participate in their adventures.
