Hi! I started babysitting when I was 12 (formally), but since my younger sister is 9 years younger than I am, I did a lot of "junior mom" raising of her since birth. I am CPR trained, as that was part of earning my teaching credential (which is still valid till 2020, incidentally). I babysat extensively throughout junior high, high school and college. Let's just say I had no social life on many Saturday nights. I was a nanny for two wealthy families. I was entrusted with their children on my own in my early 20s when they needed to "get away" to Europe or other states. I have also been a trusted house and pet sitter for numerous families. Right after earning my BA in English, I was a teacher's asst. at an exclusive private school whose students were primarily of special needs. I worked with all grades, but Read more was full-time in a combined K-1 classroom. After this, I worked as a public school teacher (7th and 8th grade full-time, 5th and 6th grade summer school and one year opening a high school from the ground up - grades 10, 11 and AP English Language). I am an energetic, fun, creative and nurturing woman with no children of my own, but I do have 3 wonderful furbabies (2 dogs, 1 cat). I love interacting with children of all ages and enjoy doing arts and crafts, cooking, playing, reading stories, and teaching while simply enjoying their company. If I were a mother, I'd probably be a little over-protective. I'm always aware of what the kids are doing, where they are, if they're safe and having a good time. I'm also good at just hanging out, if that's what the child desires at the time. I believe in good manners, kindness and empathy. My students were always wanting to hang out and talk with me after class. They found it easy to confide in me and I was always willing to give of my time and hopefully give good advice and a hug when it was needed. I can ride a bike and swim, as well. I have a performing arts background, so singing, dancing, acting, playing dress-up and even some guitar playing can be part of the fun. I've also had experience with my friends' kids from infancy to pre-teen age. I haven't babysat in awhile and I'd love to get back into it. Kids are wonderful little people and I genuinely enjoy being around them.
