My name is Vanessa Davis and I am a 27 year old graduate student who is studying Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University; I started in Fall 2013 and am currently maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I have been working for two years as a Behavioral Specialist, providing one-on-one assistance for grade school aged children with autism. Additionally, I have provided childcare for approximately 12 years, with children aging from 3-16. I also have experience with children with behavioral disorders, as well as severe allergies. I consider myself to be friendly, playful, responsible, and extremely patient. I have extensive volunteer work, including: at Outdoor Education, an educational outdoor learning environment, where I was responsible for a cabin of 10 fifth grade girls for a week; a no-kill animal shelter where I aided with adoption fairs and kitten fostering; and Camp Hill New York, a facility designed to improve the lives of those Read more with learning, and other, cognitive disorders and developmental disabilities. I have also been a teacher's aide in a variety of classrooms. In terms of my babysitting style: I really value education and think learning and social interaction are much more essential than plugging a child in front of the television to help time pass. I love being outdoors, reading, and playing games. I also LOVE animals, so I would enjoy taking children to a dog park or the zoo or somewhere they can enjoy being surrounded by animals. I value my education and am goal-oriented. Although I plan to be a continuing student at Pepperdine, I am open and committed to making a schedule that permits me to both continue my education and work with a wonderful family. Overall, I treasure children as our future, and as fun playmates, and wish to work with a family where I can help facilitate their goals and educational pursuits in addition to having fun.
