Jennifer seemed lovely at first, which is why out of the many applicants we hired her. We did everything possible to make her transition comfortable before her first shift. I also made it very clear to her that I was flexible with her schedule as long as she gave me a few days notice to make arrangements with my work. Prior to her first shift with my baby, she notified me she had a death in the family and had to be out of town. After offering my condolences, I told her to let me know if she needed any additional time off and we verified with each other when she would next be available to care for my little one. She showed up for one shift before she left town and we never saw or heard from her again. On the day she was supposed to show up, I had switched my days off at work and my husband was left at home waiting for her. I had to call my boss and leave work so that my husband could go to his work. I called her and it went straight to voice mail. I left her a message and never heard back. Barring that Jennifer was physically unable to take 10 seconds to return my call or send a text that she could no longer work for us, I can't imagine any excuse that would be good enough to justify someone leaving us in a lurch as she did. I'm very disappointed and appalled at Jennifer's inconsideration.
