My first and most memorable childcare experience was a big brother to my twin sisters. I was responsible for getting them safely on and off the school bus in elementary school and providing a snack when we got home from school. They were a handful! Later during my summer's home I was hired as a childcare provider and mother's helper for my neighbor's daughter. I worked for approximately 5 years between 2012 to 2016. I helped promote language development, introduced sight words through games, taught her to count to 100, and use tally marks in math. I safely transported her to swim lessons and accompanied her to group music class. I also helped with chores around the house including but not limited to dishwashing, garbage removal, and laundry. She is now 5 years old. As a camp counselor for four consecutive summers during high school it was not uncommon for Read more children with a variety of cognitive challenges to be campers at Chandler Newberger full day summer camp. As a lead counselor I was responsible for planning games and activities for the 15 to 20 children in my group (ages 7yrs to 12yrs old). One of my most valuable work experiences occurred when I was an aid for a camper with Autism. I was responsible for communicating with his parents and designing activities that were inclusive yet not over stimulating. I learned to redirect him and assist him with group activities . While in high school I volunteered as a tutor for my high school track team in Evanston. Illinois. I assisted talented fellow runners with math and science assignments and test preparation in order to help them gain valuable skills and remain eligible to run competitively. While attending the University of Illinois's computer engineering program I tutored students with a variety of learning disabilities in math and science. I am seeking a variety of babysitting positions for occasional and regularly scheduled childcare. I am fun, smart and energetic and would be a great addition to help support your family.
