Meet Amy

  • Experienced Doula

Hi! My name is Amy! I'm very passionate about working with young children (0-5)! I enjoy engaging children in developmentally appropriate activities and taking them outside to play! Arts and crafts and sensory bins are fun to do on rainy days, or not so rainy days too! I really enjoy getting to know each of the children I work with and like to come up with activities to do with them based upon their interests. I have my bachelors degree in child and family development, a graduate level certificate called the EC-SEBRIS (early childhood socio-emotional behavior regulation intervention specialist certificate), as well as my masters in child development all from San Diego State University. I have worked with children of all ages ranging from infants and on up to thirteen year olds (with most of my experience working with infants and toddlers). I have interned in elementary schools, San Diego Read more State University Children's Center, and head start programs before. I taught at a preschool as a toddler teacher for a year and a half. I have nannied and babysat for numerous families over the years including families with twins, multiples, and have done nanny shares before as well. Therefore, I am very comfortable working with multiple young children at a time. I am a Newborn Care Specialist trained through the Newborn Care Training Academy (NCTA) and am also a Postpartum & Infant Care Doula trained through ProDoula. I am also a pre-certified Infant Feeding Specialist (currently working on becoming certified). I do have references available upon request. Let me know if you have any questions about me, as I would love to meet up with your family and see if we are a good match!

Amy is such a caring, compassionate person. She truly believes in child development and in the basics of reading and playing. She took care of our five month old son and he fell in love with her. I would recommend her to all my friends.

Amy has been really great with my three year old and my pre-toddler. She is always on time and is flexible with her availability. I always feel at ease when she takes care of our little ones. I also have to mention that my kids love spending time with her... my three year old is always excited to see Amy. Thank you!

We had a family weekend away in San Diego and Amy came to take care of our 7 year old and 3 year old boys in the hotel room so we could attend a concert. She arrived on time and brought games along for them to play. My 3 year old immediately connected with her and we had no difficulty with leaving, as both of the boys were at ease. The boys liked her and had fun (my 7 year old reported). She was able to help the boys get to sleep even though they were in an unfamiliar place. She was also very flexible with our return time as we weren't sure when we would get back from our concert. Will definitely contact her again if we need a babysitter next time we visit.

We've only had Amy over once but my kids are already asking when she is coming back! They had a fanatic time with all the games and coloring she did with them. We will absolutely be using her again!

My two school-age children absolutely adore Amy! She plays with them, helps with homework, and seems genuinely interested in getting to know them. She is very responsible and always on time. I really like the fact that she has been studying childhood development in college. Knowledgeable and reliable.
