  • Comfortable with pets

My name is Colbi and I am passionate about working with children. I have been working at McKinley School in Petaluma for the 2016-2017 school year, and I am currently looking for summer work with a local family. I have worked with children in a variety of settings including daycare, summer camps, elementary school, swim lessons, and nannying. I graduated from Portland State University in 2014 with a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Elementary Education. I am planning to return to grad school within a few years to earn a degree as a Marriage and Family Therapist or Elementary School Counselor. I am familiar with many child development philosophies including Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and Love and Logic. My approach to childcare is to be silly and loving, but also to set clear boundaries and expectations. I value a positive communication style in which children feel empowered to make Read more healthy decisions and have the maximum safe and positive level of independence. I love imaginative play, board games, singing, dancing, art, and exploring outdoors. I do not mind getting down on the floor and getting my hands dirty. I am looking to make strong bonds with a family. I am available all summer with the possibility of transitioning into the school year if we are a great fit. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have, I am willing to provide references upon request. Thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing from you soon! - Colbi
