I grew up in beautiful Palos Verdes, in a quaint beachside neighborhood sprinkled with families with kids of all ages. My first experience as a sitter started when I was 13, playing and watching over a three-year-old boy and his younger brother. Their mother worked from home, but she needed someone to be active with her children as she was close by. She recommended me to several of her friends and even had me over while she threw adult dinners. I loved this responsibility and trusting relationship with their families at this age. In high school, I would tutors junior high students in math and would sometimes be asked by the parents to babysit on weekend nights. During college, I continued tutoring and began to work for a single mother with two girls, one with special needs. My once-a-week duty every week was to pick the two girls up from Read more their individual schools, prepare a well-rounded dinner, get them settled into their homework assignments and sit by if need be, bathe, and get them as bedtime ready as possible before their mother came home at 8pm. It's so fulfilling to help a family and their children with anything from transportation to tutoring to basic hygenics.
