Hello there! My name is Keira Carmichael, I recently returned to Vermont from Washington State, and I am a full-time music educator (PreK-8th). I have been a babysitter/caregiver for 15 years and a certified teacher for 3. My childhood included plenty of outdoor swimming, fort building, singing, backyard games within the neighborhood, hiking, and family gatherings. In the beginning of my career, I provided child care for 3-6 children for a few hours at a women's support group and volunteered at a local summer lunch program. Throughout high school I would babysit several families on the weekends and even weeknights. From 2009-2013 I worked at Green Mountain Camp for Girls in West Dummerston, VT. I began as a counselor, became program director, and finished my time there as an administrator. While pursuing my masters in Colorado, I was a full-time nanny to two children, was responsible for light housework, transportation, Read more grocery shopping, tutoring, and general care. In regards to music, I have been singing and involved in my vocal ensembles since I was eight. I knew from a young age that I wanted to teach, and while I took a less conventional path, I realized in my undergrad that I needed to follow my passion for both child care and music by becoming an educator. I have directed several youth ensembles since then and love teaching children of all ages. I consider myself to be a great caregiver. 10 words my students and colleagues would use to describe me would be fun, creative, organized, responsible, patient, consistent, communicative, sociable, loving, and talented. Whether teaching in the classroom or providing care at home, I am deeply invested in my work and strive to provide an environment where all children can grow, play, explore, and enjoy being themselves. I especially love reading bedtime stories, rubbing backs, and singing soft lullabies with the younger crowd. Currently, I am looking to recuperate from moving expenses and a hike in student loans after moving 3,000 miles across the country. While my week days are usually consumed by my current job, I am open to house-sitting, babysitting, tutoring, and potentially longer arrangements during holiday breaks.
