My name is Travis. I am hardworking, dependable, and responsible. I have been volunteering with children ever since I was in second grade but have made it a career since high school. I have worked with children from newborn to 5th grade. I care for each child as if he were my own and each age presents its own challenge but also has its own reward. In my career, I worked as the lead teacher in the 4, 5, and 6-year-old classroom at my local church. I was in charge of 70+ kids as well as all volunteers. My duties included but are not limited to Checking in each child, story time, snack time, games and outdoor activity, worship and making sure that each child was safe and learning in a fun and active classroom. On top of being previously being the lead teacher, I was also a nanny for Read more a family of four boys, three who had special needs: one child with ADHD, one with ADHD and autism, and one with cerebral palsy who lived 90% of his time in a wheelchair and needed constant care and attention. While nannying, I worked closely with his CNA and Occupational Therapist to make sure he had the best comprehensive care. We all worked closely with the mother to keep the care consistent and in line with the parent's requirements. In addition to taking care of the children, I did light housework, read stories, played ball, supervised and swam with kids at the pool, helped with homework and reading, made sure they were ready for school, and prepared their lunches, as well as giving medications and making breakfast. I am always intent on working closely with the parents to have clear communication on what the parents want for their child as well as giving updates daily on how the day went and all things that happened.
