I will be honest... I am 27 years old and I haven't babysat in some time. I have been working in the Corporate world for the past 4 years. The cubicle lifestyle began to wear and tear on my body. I could not sit for 8 hours a day and was no longer happy, so I am looking in different directions. My mom is a Pediatrician in Little Rock, Arkansas and I remember when she used to take me to the hospital with her to do her "rounds" and check on the newborns. As she went from room-to-room checking on mom and baby, I got to sit in the nursery and hold/rock the healthy babies. I'm sure there were hearts in my eyes. I loved every minute. As soon as I was deemed responsible enough (13 years old), I was asked to babysit my mom's partner's children. I babysat up Read more until I could work a typical high-schooler job and babysat on the side. Once I went to college, I found myself getting away from babysitting but now, as I think about having children of my own in the next five years, I want to go back to it. I have so much fun with kids. They give me energy. I love crafts and projects of my own - knitting, drawing, painting, throwing clay, woodturning, etc. I can create child-friendly crafts and projects and bring supplies of my own. I think it's important to exercise the mind with younger kids with crafts and continued learning outside of school and what a great challenge it would be to come up with those projects. I am eager to try as I begin thinking about becoming a mother myself. I will add that I coached 13 year olds in volleyball for two years. I coached under Fatchmo Junior Olympic volleyball club in Little Rock, Arkansas before moving to Colorado. I appreciate all sports and would love to help kids practice their sport of choice, especially volleyball.
