Growing up with a sister six years younger than me and two parents who worked over 60 hours a week, I gained my childcare experience early and in abundance. All throughout high school I took classes in early childhood development and those lessons were put to practice everyday as I cared for my sister after school, helping her with her homework, making and feeding her dinner, making sure she completed her bedtime routine (wash face, brush teeth etc.) and sometimes even reading her bedtime story and tucking her into bed on the nights my mother was running late coming home from work. I also began watching our neighbor's daughter while I was in high school. I started babysitting her when she was under a year old, babysat her regularly until I moved out of town when she was 7. I also worked summers as a CIT (Counselor in training) from Read more age 13-16 and worked one summer as a camp counselor at age 17 at the local summer camp in my home town of Coventry. Since then I have babysat for many of my friends children, I also have 2 nieces (and one on the way!), am god mother to 4 of my friends children, and am the proud mother of a beautiful 16 month old boy who is the absolute light of my world. I'm a very caring and nurturing person by nature with an enthusiasm for teaching and learning. I love to be outside when the weather permits it and encourage outdoor play often. On days when the weather keeps us inside I have many arts and crafts plans and materials and science experiments for children of all ages. Along with childcare I am also comfortable running household errands, maintaining household upkeep regularly or as needed and walking feeding and general care for any pets if needed. I love children and am passionate about caring for others. I'm just coming from a job as a CNA doing home health care for the elderly for many years. For the past 2 years I had been taking care of my grandmother, she was a beautiful and amazing woman who passed away a few weeks ago and now I'm looking to resume working as a caregiver and also continue my education and work towards a degree in social work.
