My experience with caring for children started when I was 12. I started my own business; seeking children to babysit in my neighborhood. Once I was 16 I received more on call work around town with families I knew. In my second year of college, I worked mainly for a family with two children (one boy, 7, and one girl, 4). I worked for them three times a week all day. After that job was finished, I became a family nanny for two girls (8, 5). I watched them three days a week for 12 hours a day. During the school year, I would get them ready for school, bring them to school, pick them up from school, help them with homework, then run them to activities if needed and cook them dinner. During the day while they were at school, I would do laundry and pick up the house. Read more When the girls were on break, we would find fun day activities to do or stay home and bake or make arts and crafts. I worked for this family for two years before I moved to Virginia. In Virginia, I had two amazing nanny families that I worked for full time. My first family was two girls (18 months and 6 years old) who were very active. We were always reading, doing arts and crafts, sports and playing Wii. I was responsible for all transportation and food preparation for the girls. My second main family in Virginia had two girls (5 and 2) and one boy (4). This family was full of fun and love. We were always on the go playing at museums, parks, and the zoo. After Virginia, I moved to North Carolina where I worked full time for a great family with one boy (3) and one girl (9 months). We always were playing, reading, and enjoying the outdoors. I love this line of work because I love children; they remind me how free spirited and loving someone can be. They always brighten up my day. I plan on always working with children throughout my life.
