My name is Morgan, I am 25 years old and have been working with children professionally for about 10 years. I grew up in a local home daycare so my love of caring for children started at a very young age. I would always ask to help the owner with feedings, changes and naps, all when I was under 10 years old. When I was old enough, I started babysitting in my neighborhood. Word traveled around and I began babysitting 3-4 times per week from the ages of 12-16. The majority of the children I watched were over 5 years old but I began watching my cousins (ages 1 and newborn twins) when I was 15 and realized my love for infants. When I was 16 I began working at a local daycare in the infant room (6 weeks -14 month olds) and I worked there for about 2 years. Read more I was responsible for feedings, diaper changes, tummy time, working on fine and gross motor skills and helping with developmental milestones (rolling over, sitting, standing, walking, etc.) for up to 8 infants. Keeping a daily record of these activities for each child along with any accident reports or notes for parents. Watching the infants I had in my class learn and achieve milestones to move onto the toddler room was a very gratifying experience. When I was 18, I then started working at another local daycare and stayed there for 4 years. I was the lead teacher in the early toddler room (14-24 month olds). I was responsible for creating lesson plans on the alphabet, shapes, colors, and numbers, diaper changing and potty training, creating educational and fun art projects every day, sensory play (water or rice table), fine-tuning gross and fine motor skills and expressing through music and movement. Again, one of the most gratifying experiences is seeing your students learning and retaining new information after your hard work and repetition. While I want the children I am watching to have fun, safety is a huge concern for me. I always make sure we are practicing safe and healthy behaviors. I am a book-worm, so reading books and education plays a large part in my teaching. I am also an artist, so I encourage imagination when doing any arts or crafts projects, letting the child create rather than just coloring a picture from a coloring book. If I am chosen as a nanny for your family, I will make sure your child(ren) is always safe, happy and healthy, doing developmentally appropriate activities and consistently learning, all while having fun!
