Babysitting has been a part of my life for over 8 years. Before college, I spent several summers babysitting my two middle school aged cousins along with another late elementary school aged boy. This involved me spending a full work day and some nights at their house, planning and executing engaging activities as well as coordinating breakfasts and lunches. I also have experience babysitting my younger sister from when she was a toddler until her preteen years. This often included putting her to bed and all the routines that come with being clean and ready for sleep such as brushing teeth and taking a bath. Most of the children I have babysat have medication times so I have experience helping children with their medication as well as taking care of the other needs that come with intellectual and physical disabilities. For two years during college, I worked as a volunteer Read more tutor in Holyoke Public Schools in Massachusetts. I have gained experience in helping middle school and elementary school aged children with homework and reading. The program I am involved with also offers several club activities which involves my participation in helping the children stay focused and engaged in the task at hand. I have always enjoyed the company of children, finding youthful eyes to be much more creative and inspired by the world around them. As a graduate from UMASS Amherst Social Thought and Political Economy Program with a focus in Education, I am serving in an Americorps program on weekdays from 8am to 6:30pm. I work a small group of at-risk, high need youth and specialize in improving their test scores and school performance. I am passionate about teaching and caring for children! I love to read all types of books, watch movies, play games and sports, especially soccer. I am a bit of an actress since I did community theater all though middle school and high school. I am available to take care of up to three children as a part-time (or however often you need me) babysitter on the weekends.
