My name is Jacqueline Teal Penrod. I would very much like to be considered as a nanny candidate. I will write a bit about myself and if we sound like we would make a good match then give me a call. I look back at my life and the best thing to recommend me to you is that I have been an excellent mother of my own child. And I have been a volunteer teacher for the past 12 years to young students. I have also watched many many friends of my son for all of his younger years while he was growing up. I am 49 years young -I feel 30- and I am the the married mother of a now 20 year old son. He lives with us and he is a film major at Howard University. Those years I raised my son have been some of the Read more funnest most fulfilling years of my life. I would like a chance to do it again as a nanny. I know I would be a great nanny. I have lived in Washington DC for nearly 30 years. I moved here with my husband who had a job as a National Park Service Ranger. Until I had my son I worked in the National Park Service myself. We were lucky that when we had our son, my husband made just enough money for me to be able to stay home and take care of our child. I was extremely fortunate to have this opportunity. We could never afford to do that today. I loved taking care of my son. I knew that I would do it with a lot of thought. We wanted him raised very organically by going with the flow of what interested him and letting his personality guide us. With a balance between continuity and structure, yet, also carefree and with love -lots and lots of love. He was on a daily basis been through his own interests exposed to nature, art, history, and music. My son was practically raised from infancy forward to co-exist with all that Washington has to offer. Whether it was the art galleries or the zoo we did everything in this lovely city. Not to say that we never stayed at home. We spent plenty of time playing with his toys and games too. And he had tons of playmates. One thing we never did was watch a lot of tv. We did listen to tons of music -classical, jazz, broadway or the Beatles. And when he got closer to one years old we did art every single day. And he loved to read and go to the library two three times a week. Still does. Beyond being a mom, for the past 12 years I have been a volunteer arts teacher to school kids from ages 6 and to 18 at the Sitar Arts Center in Columbia Heights. I have taught primary landscape painting but also knitting
