About Me and My Philosophy: Hey There! My name is Nicole Thomas and I am an undergraduate student in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. I have a fascination with people in general and delight in all of the complicated, interesting, and silly things we tend to do, and that extends ten-fold to children. I absolutely love working with kids! I love to watch them experience something for the first time and try to figure out the world around them; their curiosity and candid observations can really help us see our world in a different light. :) But enough with all that deep, serious mumbo jumbo! What do I really love about kids? They're NOT serious! They're silly, hyper goofballs most of the time, and who wouldn't want to hang around that? I love the things they say that take everyone by surprise, I love that they can Read more be just as entertained by dancing around the room with a bucket on their head as they can by a next generation video game system, and, most of all, I love watching them learn and grow, even if it does mean taking the bucket off their head (sometimes). Aaaand...it doesn't hurt at all that I'm still a big kid at heart and enjoy legos and hide and seek more than I'd care to admit. :) Honestly, some of the most fun I’ve had and my happiest moments have been “on the job.” What I'm Looking For: I'm taking a break from school this year and so I have both part time and full time availability and would love to find some wonderful families to work with! :) Experience: I have about 11 years of experience taking care of children, the last seven years of which having been professionally. I grew up taking care of my cousins and younger brothers and sister, worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters in high school, helped my stepmom run her own daycare for infants and toddlers, and worked for 7 years professionally as a full time nanny and part time tutor in the suburbs of Chicago and DC. Some of my responsibilities have included home-work help, transportation, household chores, creating and planning activities, scheduling outings and appointments, cooking, pet care, overseeing household projects, lesson planning, and teaching English as a second language.
