Hi! My name is Robin Ferris, and I obtained my first employment as a Nanny while attending Queen's In Charlotte, N.C. through Private Placements.aving babysat for different families over the years, I found my position as a Nanny for the Robertson's to be far more rewarding, as I felt I was having a positive, long-lasting influence on the Robertson girls, and enjoyed the friendships I was able to develop with the family members very much. After two years of working for the Robertson's my parents urged me to press on through my college work as a full-time student versus a part-time student. The Christmas of 2000 was my last month caring for Dr. Cheryl Robertson's children, and we have been able to keep in touch over the years. In 2001 my husband had a unforseen financial set back, and I took it upon myself to procure a position as a Read more Nanny once again. I interviewed with Mr. & Mrs. Basnight and met with their 2 pre-teen boys. We all hit it off very well, and the family and myself were happy to agree I would be a "good fit" for their househod management needs, and most importantly the care provided for the two boys. This was in August of 2001. In August of 2002 Liz Basnight and myself discussed the details of a severance package for myself, as Mr. Basnight wished to be available for the boys after school each day, as his employment was now permitting him. I was a little down at the prosepect of leaving, ( I really enjoyed the boys silliness and enthusiasm for life) but understood that I should always want, as a nanny, what is truly best for the children, and I did understand this in this particular case. Two months later I became pregnant with my beautiful daughter, lauren, who is now 11, and entering middle school (yikes!) I mad the conscious decision to put aside any thoughts of employment outside the home and spent some of the happiest years of my life staying home with Lauren until she entered Kindergarten. Since that time I have relocated to Fort Lauderdale to be close to my parents, and have been caring and providing transportation for my brither's two children, ages 3 1/2 and 6 years of age. I am currently working for my brother as he juggles being a single father with busy hours at work, and I am so happyvto be working with family, which is a unusual opportunity! My brother will not be needing a nanny when his younger daughter begins pre-school for the first time next week. I would like very much to find a cheerful, upbeat family to work with soon:)
