I've recently returned from a two year service in the Peace Corps teaching English in China. There, I was an Oral English instructor for University students as well as facilitator of cultural exchange. My experience in the Peace Corps has furthered my ability to be flexible and think critically in all situations, no matter what is thrown at me. I also have an Intermediate-High proficiency in Oral Mandarin and would happily teach a little to any interested parties. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Art Education, and have provided Education for a wide range of 1-60 year old individuals, both in Art and ESL. It is important to me, and one of my favorite parts of childcare, to stimulate creativity. I LOVE facilitating art projects and creative exploration in whatever manner the child is drawn to! Prior to my Peace Corps service, I was the sole nanny of a beautiful Read more little girl from the age of 9 months to just over 2 years old. We frequented children's and science museums, dance classes, sing-a-longs, farmers markets, parks, and whatever other local events were of interest to the parents and/or tiny human. Unfortunately, we parted ways when I left for China. It has been important for me to remain in contact with the family even after leaving. We have a lifelong friendship, and I find this aspect especially important in childcare. I'm currently considering a career move to nursing, and plan to take some courses to feel it out. Your child's well being is a high priority to me, and I would regain certification in first aid and CPR upon employment. Additional bits might include that I would LOVE gardening, walking, going to parks, dancing, singing, attending any sort of classes, and cooking/preparing food for your child.
