My husband and I recently moved from the Washington DC area to Miami as graduate students, studying advertising at Miami Ad School. I am originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil and came to the US as an au pair in 2008. As an au pair I worked for a family with two sets of twins, infants and five year olds. My daily responsibilities included: preparing and feeding all meals, scheduling daily routines, preparing and scheduling activities, games, field trips and play dates, preparing the children for bath and bed, light cleaning involving the children's laundry and rooms, and organizing the play areas. After my term as an au pair I worked as a live-in nanny for a family with three girls ages five, three, and one, with the same responsibilities. My most recent nanny job was for a six month year old boy, having the same responsibilities. I also was in Read more charge of care while his mother regularly traveled for work several weeks at a time. I have also regularly babysat for at least ten families, including overnight and weekend stays. I keep in contact with all of the families I have worked for, and each can provide excellent references. I am seeking out regular babysitting and part time nanny work while I attend school and hopefully I will be able to pay off these school loans sooner than later!
