My Husband and I hired Tara to babysit our son on Mondays from 2 pm to 6:30/7 pm. She interviewed well and was very personable. I was very clear and upfront with what our needs were during the interview, Tara understood my need to have a stable, reliable and consistent sitter. Someone who would commit to working the required hours. She agreed at that time that she could fulfill those requirements. I explained to her that I didn't want to have a different sitter every week caring for my son because he's at the age where he gets very anxious with strangers, therefore having someone that would show up consistently was very important to my husband and I. Tara showed up for two weeks before quitting abruptly on us. The most frustrating part is the manner in which we were notified that she was leaving. Tara was scheduled to come in on Monday 10/31 at 2 pm. However at 8:10 pm on 10/30 I received not a phone call, but a text from her stating that she would not be able to sit in with my son on Monday because she got another opportunity that she could not pass up. That's fine and dandy but notifying me at 8:10 pm the night before was very irresponsible and left us with very limited options. To make matters worse my husband was heading out of town and I had to facilitate an all-day training at work that Monday. We were depending on her coming in to watch our son. I text Tara back and she did not respond, I then called her and left her a message and she did not call back. Just to add, my text and phone call to her was not angry or belligerent, I simply wanted to discuss the matter further. I do wish she would have been upfront with us as we were with her. It was obvious that she had no intention of honoring any of our requests for consistency and reliability. She took the job with the intention of moving on when something better came along and in the process left us without anyone to look after our little one. Shame on you Tara.
