I've been working with youth for over 10 years in different capacities. I started as docent at an art museum, worked and coordinated after-school programs, at a preschool, and as an art teacher in an elementary school. I love exploring outside, being active, and collaborating with children on art projects and cooking. I have also worked in animal hospitals and as a dog walker/petsitter so I love animals! I completed my Master’s degree in Teaching Art Education at Columbia College Chicago and hold an Illinois teaching license. I currently teach art at Elmwood Park High School. Last year I taught in Chicago Public Schools. As an art teacher, I have planned and implemented visual arts based lessons aligned with state and national standards for students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. I lead small and large classes by planning and integrating art history and cultural relevance components into daily lessons. I interned at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and NYCH Gallery. I have worked with diverse organizations, giving presentations and leading school projects at art museums and giving tours at a prairie preserve. I enjoy challenging my students to develop their curiosity and explore new subjects and interests. I utilize a responsive teaching style and enjoy facilitating student choice through problem based learning. As an experienced educator, I love inspiring others and am very patient, positive and energetic. I enjoy collaborating with others. Two of my strongest assets are my excellent communication skills and my boundless imagination.
