I have had the privilege of growing up with a special needs sister who has autism and Prader-Willi syndrome where I quickly learned that it was necessary for me to have a large amount of patience. I have helped my parents take care of her for many years now, and have also worked for a company providing respite for families for about 5 years now. I have over 3 years experience working within day programs for developmentally disabled and experience with Alzheimer's patients as well. Those with special needs hold a very close spot in my heart not only because of my personal experience with my sister but because they each have a special way of teaching you that the simple things in life are what truly matter.
